Friday class

Hi there!!

I am still not sure about the situation for next Friday... If the building is closed, then we will meet on the 16th... There is one group that has to deliver their presentation (on the 9th or on the 16th...the next time we meet). And on the 16th we'll have the make up. So, if we don't get together this Friday, I'll post in the blog the names of those who have to sit for the make up....

Hello hello!!

We have finished dealing with Syllabus Desing and Planning Lessons and Courses (not in as much detail as I would have liked to...so please make sure to read the material carefully at home and let me know if you have any doubts).

On Friday we will be starting with the Presentations. The first one will be about Classroom Management. It is a good idea for you to read the material before the class... And please try to be on time!

Hello, hello!

Last Friday we had a quiet class, because some of you were sitting for the make up test. You worked in groups on the material about Syllabus Design, and I walked around, trying to clarify doubts.

Then we organized the presentations you will have to deliver as from the first week of October. So, if you were absent, check in which group you are or can be...

For next Friday you should read the material on Planning Lessons and Coursebooks, and print or download the questionnaire on that topic from this blog.

How are you on this sunny day? I hope you are great!!

Yesterday we dealt with TBLT...the last of the approaches we are going to study this year. For all those who were absent, make sure to read the chapter and check that you understand the most important ideas.

For next class you have to read the Diseño Curricular and the notes on Syllabus design. Also, get from this blog the questionnaire on Syllabus design.

Finally, you have to get organnized into five groups (of four or five members each) so that we can start organizing the presentations you will have to deliver in this second term.

About this Friday

Hi there!! How are you? How was your Winter Break?

I just wanted to let you know that this Friday I'll be absent. My daughter was operated on yesterday and we have to stay at home at least until next Tuesday.

So, you have one more week to partially rest... and remember for next week to read and prepare a summary of TBLT (not to hand in, but to discuss in class).

How are you? I hope you are great and enjoying the much deserved Winter Break, despite the rainy weather!

This is just a reminder:

You should read chapter 18, it is about Task Based Language Teaching, and you should make a chart summarizing the most important aspects: theory of language, theory of language learning, all the aspects of design and procedure. It is not to hand in but to share in class.

Also, for those of you who need to sit for the make up, remember it will be on August 24th.

A bit of everything

Hi there!!

Last Friday we had a class with a little bit of everything:

First, we finiched dealing with Audiolingualism, using your true or false statements and with some feedback on  the presentations from the previous class.

Then, we had a mini celebration for Camila's 20th birthday :-)

After that, we started working on Whole Language.

And... we decided the Term Test will be on July 6th.

For next class you have to read the chapter on Communicative Language Teaching, and you have to print the questionnaire on that chapter from this blog.

Well.... that is basically it for now!!!

Homework for Friday 11th

Sorry I did not post anything before...it's been a complicated week!

On Friday we  will continue working  on the chapter on Audiolingualism, so it is a good idea to re read it, or at least the part you will have to present...Yes! Present! For those of you who were absent, last class students got in groups organized by birth dates. Each groupo got a section of the chapter and on Friday they will have to explain that part to the rest of the class.

How are you? Enjoying the loooong weekend? I hope so!!

Last class... it did not rain!! So...most of you were there... good!!

We almost finished dealing with the questionnaire on chapter 2. Next class we'll deal with the last few questions and then we'll get into Audiolingualism. Please read the chapter for next class.

And, I insist on the importance of going over concepts and explaining things in your words to make sure you understand...Most of you are still very quiet in class... and it would be great if you took advantage of the opportunity to participate!!

Dealing with the hardest part...

Hi!! How are you??

Yesterday we had our third class...many people were either late or absent, probably mainly due to the rain!! But still we had a great class. We finished dealing with chapter 1, on History of Language Teaching and the questionnaire for it. And then we started working on what I have already told you is the hardest chapter you'll have to read for this subject.

So, if there are still a lot of doubts in your mind, don't worry! It is completely normal!! Most of those doubts will get cleared as we advance through the next chapters and we study concrete examples of Methods.

For next class you should finish answering the questionnaire on this chapter (chapter 2), and have the answers ready to share and participate next Friday!!

How are you? Enjoying the weekend? I hope so!

Yesterday we had our second class...well, for some of you it was the first!! More names to learn!! Don't worry...I'll rise to the challenge!

First of all, I asked you to complete a brief quiz to get some information. So, if you were absents yesterday, please ask me for the quiz next class.

Then, we worked on chapter 1, which means that we thought and talked about the History of Language Teaching. We went through half of the questionnaire.

For homework you have to:

• Finish the questionnaire.
• Print from this blog the questionnaire on chapter 2
• Read chapter 2.

Yesterday we had our first class, during which we got to discuss some general characteristics of the subject, the importance of being on time and some personal information to get to know one another.

I really enjoyed getting to know you... it was a very enjoyable experience and there was a very pleasant atmosphere. I'm sure we'll have a great year together!!

Remember for next Friday to get from this blog Questionnaire 1 and to try to read chapter 1. (I will upload it as soon as Rocío sends me the scanned pages).
